Bosse Field to host Castle vs Memorial IHSAA high school football game

Next Friday at 7:30, a high school football game at historic Bosse Field? It’s happening.

Officially the Stangs announced on Thursday their final game of the district schedule against the Cavaliers at the home baseball field this fall. It is scheduled for Oct.  18 at 6:On Aug 2, 30 p.  m.  CDT, marked as a Tigers home game.

Bosse Field will be the place, 13 years after the previous football game held there, it will host this event of sports.

Here, we have two suburbs on one side and one high school football team on the other competing for a neutral site," said Memorial athletics director Chad Dockery.  "So, we invited all to come and let's celebrate not just Memorial and Castle, but also our community here. "People recalls clubs that were played here in the past and the area's history.  We should celebrate that and share it with the rest of us in a spectacular night to relaunch the stadium.

What’s the reason? Why are their two teams battling it out on the pitch?

Initially the idea was brought to Memorial in a form of "100-Year Series" as the schools was opening its 100th year. In this case, October resounded as the best month for a date since we were able to check Bosse Field. Tom Menetrier, general manager of the Evansville Otters, said that the team currently plays their home games at the stadium and potentially could use it till the end of September.

Dating back to 1985 Memorial and Castle high schools have played on that the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference recognized as "Rivalry Week" each season. Similarly both have acknowledged that not only Bosse field is a place of entertainment for local students, but it is also a place that residents can show their pride as football supporters. The Tiger's losing the last game played there in 2011 is the last CEO game.

"We’re looking forward to it" John Hurley, head coach of Memorial They said. "Carter Memorial Stadium opens the season 99th for starting the football. In particular, sworn enemies with Castle. Therefore, I strongly believe that this will prove to be one great place to be. The titles are perfect, well thought out, and will travel well. We’ll travel well. It should be spectacular, that is if my nervous system is not haywire and the mental exertion does not wear down my already exhausted brain. Besides that it will presents another platform for us to unveil more kids not yet familiar with the ballpark.

Whether he has ever taken the field at Bosse Field is a matter still unknown. The Tigers intend to commemorate Holy Cross and Notre Dame by wearing special green jerseys that substantiate their connection. The Knights will sport throwback jerseys which are styled like they are from the 1982 state championship year.

"Boss Field" is just one of the elements that formed Evansville legend, according to Castle coach, Doug Hurt. "I mean, I was a little tot not so long back and watching the Triplets right here alone.  We always had great fun here, guys from both sides were really great replacements for each other after the fact.  The rivalry is bigger now than ever before, and we're ready to put on a show.

Should there or shouldn't there be any modifications in Bosse Field?

The latter one appears to be simpler than most might be inclined to think.

The end zones will be at home plate and center field which were on the first base and third base during last game in ‎2011. The memorial will be positioned at Bob Hargrave Field, the team's practice site, and the goalposts must be adjusted accordingly.  Nonetheless, the base is still where it is, right on the field surface.

Tickets are priced at $10 apiece and students can acquire them via the schools' website or at the Bosse Field box office. Memorial will also aim for the next demand to demand additional temporary seating, more than beyond the outfield or on the grass.

He said the car was not "one of those" that presented a big challenge to the students. "The preparations still left here from the last game will still be effect.  Our aim is to allow the public to just pop in without any hurdles and have exceptional time here.  They should enjoy not only the game but also the history that is associated with that field. "

Bosse Field missing the 'field', has Bosse Field Field hosted football games at any time recently?

Since 1915, the stadium has always played a significant role in the context of Football.

Theater Bosse, which was specifically owned by the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, held over 500 high school games during the following 65 years being the home of "Rex Mundi" which was closed in 1972 and North and Central intermittently. Within this Universal Stadium, the National Football League had its games played from 1921-22 under the Evansville Crimson Giants.

Memorial pulled away from Belleville West that night winning the final score 21-19. The Tigers stopped a game-tying two-point conversion with 1:58 green. Sam Curtis guided Memorial to that result through his 93 yards running and a touchdown to his name.

"I wanted to tie young people who have never known or might not be aware a sports event has is so historic happened here " Bill Bussing, the Otters owner proclaimed. "I've never seen a single game here as a kid.  So much history about this community can be taught through Bosse Field.  .  .  Our goal is to keep it there as a historical site for the entire community.  "
