Braden River flag football team returns to Final Four ready to win state title

The team and stage settings are alike. Tooth and nail has never been an understatement, but this time there is more a stake.

The main team of the Braden River Flag Football team (18-1) makes a repeat appearance in One Buccaneer Place in Tampa against undefeated Tampa Robinson, taking part in the Class A FHSAA State Semifinal.

Braden River, who proved victorious in the region final this year, 32-0, at the same place they had won in 2023, ending their season at 14-3, made a different choice.

On a roll: Vengeance is his primary motive. We are going to be a disciplined and strategic team that is ready to take on any opponent.  Our coaches put in a lot of time and effort to make us prepared physically and mentally, and it has shown in our previously scintillating games.  Thus, we believe it is our time to make a run for the state title.

A Knight’s music is much more than nonstop that buried up phenomenon. In the past decades, they amassed eight league trophies out of 10 seasons. The flag football team has an undeniably outstanding track record in the school and sports arena as a whole, having had the most success.

Robinson’s formidable stature is truly merited for his formidability.

"This time, when we faced them, there was an element of surprise.  It was almost like we were in awe, and the whole team knew that they are a great program but you can't please everybody," Braden River senior quarterback Sydnee Brooks said.

We’ve grasped it familiarly that ‘we’ve got to play our own way of doing business. ’Don't get too hyped up about it.  We need to go in and do our job the way we usually do it, as if it were just another game. ”

Brooks may be the biggest asset on the Braden River High team this postseason. She is the Pirate’s leading sense.  She has passed 61 touchdown passes and 14 rushing touchdowns.

Also, being one of the 23 recipients of such scoring passes from our fellow senior, Ameria Smith, adds to the memories. She leads the top in the picks of the Buccaneers pirates also.

“At this point, we have to be ready for a fight,” Smith emphasize.  “They made us leave the victory dance last season, so it might be nice to win against them this time”

The game will be staged at the Advent Health Training Center, the Bucs’ enclosed 100,000 square foot indoor practice facility built for cool temperatures.

The team has senior Madison Epperson -the team captain and a lead in the team with the 28 sacks- among others who have played before, and they know what they are getting into in the playoffs. The Buccaneers, on the other hand, will not be playing with fear.

“It is unbelievable to think that I can play up there to express myself,” Epperson said.  “In my case, I didn’t think it as possible at all. ””

Finally, there will be a total of eight teams, including the four of Class A and Class 2A, which will have a  playoff doubleheader at the arena on Friday. Saturday will see both the women and men team to face each other for the chance to compete on state level.

Attendance is not confined to ticket owners, but it must have a ticket. Tickets are in a no charge status and can be obtained at the Ticketmaster ticketing link. Another link on FHSAA website can be included to purchase the tickets.

The Pirates are scheduled to play the Knights on Friday at 5:It is 6 o`clock.

“We might have a more exciting season this year because it would be more prepared than last year.  Last year, we lost eight seniors, and I know that Robinson lost players, and I think it will not be same people, but at the time, it will be at the same level of competition,” junior Pirate Aubrey Barak said. ”
